The top 10 channels on satellite radio, as measured by Arbitron, were
dominated - with the exception of Sirius's two Howard Stern channels - by
XM.

According to the first-ever satellite radio ratings released Tuesday from
Arbitron, Sirius's Howard Stern 100 and Howard Stern 101 were the No. 1 and
No. 2 satellite radio channels, writes Mediaweek.

XM's The Blend (Adult Contemporary) was third, followed by Flight 26 (Modern
Adult Hits), Willie's Place (Traditional Country), Top Tracks (Early Classic
Rock), Top 20 on 20, The 60s and The Virus (Talk, featuring Opie & Anthony).

Sirius's New Country channel took 10th place.

The ratings were for persons 12 and older, and were based on about 466,000
diaries across 300 markets.

Ratings are meaningless for non-commercial stations. If you try for
ratings you get lowest-common-demoninator crap.

Stern needs ratings. It's stupid to bother with niche music channels.
