Details on those "low cost" a la carte plans
(too old to reply)

Obviously their definitions of "low cost" and "a la carte" differ greatly
from mine, because these all suck, big time:

http://www.nab.org/xert/corpcomm/pressrel/releases/080707_AlaCarteStudy.pdf

Give up one-half to two-thirds of the channels to save a mere $3 a month?
And notice that "A La Carte II" plan--you get less than either service
gives you now, and you pay $2 more (plus you'd need to buy a new radio)!

And these are pre-merger promises that are supposed to make us want the
merger! What will actually happen if the merger goes through?

Sounds good frontmed I'm buying this one:

Add Sports and Howard on Sirius for just $17.99

This package would include Howard Stern and Sports Super
Premium package for $17.99, $5 more than the current
service for fewer channels. About 25 cents 150% more 45% less

"A la Carte=a la Sham"? The title of this pdf file tells it all. I
think we need a neutral analysis of the pros and cons of what amounts
to rumors of what the merger will bring.

How many channels do you regularly listen to, honestly? Do you listen
to half to two-thirds of all the channels you have available now?

One more time: It doesn't matter what we want. There will be no
vote-taking. This isn't an upcoming election. This is not a democracy
in which we're participating.

I guess we should just shut down this newsgroup.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Tell me how we can change the outcome of any merger between the two
satellite radio companies, and I'l be willing to listen. Meanwhile,
we can still talk about things satellite radio, just as we always
have.

But not the merger. That has nothing at all to do with satellite radio.

So what exactly is your vested interest in not having people talk about
the merger?

Wow, here is a radical idea--if you don't like the pricing, don't buy it.
Life goes on without satellite fucking radio--try it, if you are so
appalled. If enough people agree something called "the market" will compel
change. If not, grow a nut and move on.

What a nation of goddamned crybabies, constantly looking to the government
to strong-arm someone for them

You got it wrong. It's a nation of people ready to bend over every time
some corporation tells them to.
