Discussion:
Does Sirius carry a radio with an input jack?

Here's my issue. My starmate is about kaput (power jack cutting out
intermittently) so I'm looking for a replacement. The FM transmitter
in it is pretty good, and I'd love to be able to plug my iPod into my
next Sirius radio and use it's FM transmitter. But I can't find any
info about whether or not there even exists a portable Sirius radio
with an aux input jack.

Does anyone know? Or have another solution for me?

Thanks,
Steve

Your replacement radio's FM transmitter will not be anywhere near as good as
your Starmate's was. The law cracked down on them after the starmates were
produced and the newer radios FM transmitter is worthless.

Two solutions, unless you're talking about using it with a car
kit. For home use, if you get a boombox with your Starmate's
replacement, you can plug the iPod into its aux. input. The iPod
will work with the boombox whether a Sirius receiver is plugged in
or not. Sirius also sells a nice sounding, amplified flat panel
speaker system (10 watts/channel) called the Soloist. It has two
connectors, one being the Sirius Universal Dock, and the other is an
iPod compatible cradle. It also has front and rear aux. inputs, a
rear aux. output, and a rear USB jack, but I have no idea what the
USB jack is used for.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I am looking for a car solution and by
these responses it looks like I'm not going to get what I need without
paying big bucks to hardwire the Sirius receiver to the car radio.
I've got an iPod solution in my house, and I just listen to Sirius
over the internet at home, so yeah, I need a car solution.
