Roady XT cassette adapter question

With the adapter in, I notice that the cassette *drive* mechanism is running
constantly, versus just having a signal to transmit through.

Can anything be done to stop the drive?

Stopping the drive mechanism while still playing through it would
require modification to the cassette deck itself - you'd have to disable
the drive motor, as well as the reel sensors (depending on how it was
designed). That is why cassette adaptors are designed the way they are,
to "trick" the deck into thinking there is a normal cassette inserted.
