What the author of this article deliberately overlooks is that these
alternative sources will soon have to start paying the same royalty payments
as satellite radio, let's see how popular they'll be then when they have to
either charge accordingly for access and/or increase frequency of
advertising.

Don't you just love it when reporters research their opinion pieces, so I
wonder who financed the hatchet job...

Pandora another touted so called competitor of Sirius/XM is going down for
the count.

That article was written months ago, and Pandora is still alive and
kicking.

Maybe they should offer the service "for free" and just add in something
to the cost of their radios and sell them online so they get the most profit
off the sale? Make something like an indoor house/clock radio similar to
Bose Acoustic Wave and keep the signal free along with their portables and
car radios. They used to not have ads, but those are creeping in too.

When they jacked up the price last March, I signed off on a couple of
radios. They tried to sell me on some online plan, but why? I don't feel I
get my monies worth with their satellite service and with the one lone radio
I still have activated, and I rarely listen to that even once a month.

Internet "free" radio and video stuff is too much to go against with a
cellphone unlimited data plan for Sirius/XM to compete against. Some
land-based radio stations are pumping out a 50,000 watt strong signal so you
can travel almost the entire day and not lose a signal on AM.
