trying to find something decent on the radio.
I can't find anything decent on the radio. It too is usually mind
chatter, commercials and nothing other than Avril Lavinge, Kelly
Clarkson, Shania Twain and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Even "commercial free"
satellite radio has begun to add commercials (Didn't cable TV do that
in the '70s? Claim to be free of commercial interruption and then add
commercials later on.) I have a Sony Boombox with a cassette and CD
player, and I always have either a tape or CD playing, never turning
on the radio.

interest in sports but have to pay for those useless channels

Our DVRs make it easy to watch what I want when I want:)

I'm for that. I don't care how many channels the cable company offers, I
only watch a half dozen or so. I'be be willing to pay more per channel to
have less of them, just the ones I want.

I don't want dumb shows like "The Office" but I can not watch it from the
Hartford station, Boston station, or Providence station. I also don't
watch the three MTV's, the five ESPN's, but we don't have National
Geographic.

PBS has some stuff like that. They do have commercials (not counting
pledge breaks, which are big commercials).

I'm not interested in sports either. There's a lot of others
(including home shopping) I'd rather not be paying for.

With a DVR, I often don't know when something is "on", or even what
channel.

I can't find anything decent on the radio.
And you can't find anything to eat under 2000 calories per bite.

And what's your cupboards consist of doughnuts, Twinkies, Ho-Hos,
Oreos, Animal Crackers.

Satellite Radio has always had commercials like you always had
doughnuts in your fat face.

No. Cable TV has had commercials for as long as you have been stuffing
your fat face with doughnuts, you cow.

Some are a lot louder.
"Television is not a communications medium; it is an
advertising medium."
Pretty much. Even though cable was supposed to be commercial-free, in
the end, you end up paying to see new-commercials over the same old
shows and movies.
Even though your supposed to weigh 100 pounds, you end up paying to
stuff 500 calorie doughnuts in your fat face and in the end, you weigh
487 pounds.

Pherpaps you should start renting DVDs instead.

Pherhaps you should start a gym membership.
Nothing healthy stuffing your fat face with doughnuts anyhows.

I guess you're talking just about music?

I get most of my news from the radio - NPR.

Occasionally a brief visit to one of the Pacifica stations -- mine is
KPFK -- not for their shrill far-far-far-Left politics, but for their
"exotic" world music.

However, even NPR throws soft-balls, and puts on many times
more anti-Israel,pro-Palestinian speakers than I can stomach.

What ever happened to fact checking, instead of just reading stuff on
the feed?

What NPR does have is the occasional interesting news magazine
"article" about some cultural subject.

But for real news, one simply must go to the 'Net.

Or the few remaining read magazines, like the Atlantic and that grand
old muckraker, Mother Jones. Now THAT mag has cojones!

Check out Democracy Now! on your Pacifica affiliate. MUCH better then
NPR pablum.

My biggest issue with the CATV offerings are the Jaheesus channels.
How I love (not ) paying for that shit.
