Just read that XM will be using channel 120 to broadcast Christmas music in
July on the 25th to the 26th. I for one will not be listening to holiday
music in the sweltering heat of the mid summer, but I suppose there are some
that holiday music is timeless and does not need to be played only between
Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It's just a stunt. "Chiristmas in July" has been very popular with radio
stations over the years.

What really turns me off is that both services dump several regular
channels to play all-Christmas music at the end of the year.

I just heard that Sirius will be doing the same thing on the same day.
What really sucks is that they'll take away the Classical Pops channel to
do it.

Seems like the two comapanies are already merged.

What a stupid idea. Next, channel 155 will be broadcasting Food
Network turkey recipes for "Thanksgiving in August."

What about the Jews?
Or other non-Christians. The all-Christmas-music format is really
horrible, and it's not right that they take away channels we were promised
when we signed up. Yeah, the one-day stunt is merely stupid, not that big
a deal. The month-long shit just shows that a tightly-defined format is
what the programmers really love, be it satellite or terrestrial radio. I
doubt they actually listen to what they program.
